Each Friday we will deliver to you a new fact or two about TMH that you can use as an ice-breaker in any weekend social setting.

Fun Fact for Friday, June 25

Tallahassee Memorial Hospital contains 4.2 miles of hallways. How far is that? To walk every hallway in the hospital it would like walking from the front door of the hospital to Tom Brown Park. It is our colleagues in Tallahassee Memorial’s Environmental Services department that work approximately 30 man-hours a week to keep the hallways clean and shiny.

Fun Fact for Friday, June 18th

Last year Tallahassee Memorial’s recycling efforts saved more than 1,800 trees, recycled an average of 3,000 pounds of batteries, and reduced our frying oil disposal by 50% and recycled the rest for biodiesel fuel. Learn about recycling at TMH.

Fun Fact for Friday, June 4th

Today’s TMH Friday Fact involves a topic you may have recently heard about in the media. It seems there are those who contend that the type of facility where a patient receives treatment can determine the risk of infection. When you look at results of hospitals in our area you can see that, in fact, it is not whether the facility is old or new, but the quality of the care that matters.

May 28th, Friday Fun Fact:

It could be one of the most active construction locations in Northwest Florida, if not the entire State of Florida, and it is in your backyard. Currently, three separate construction projects, involving three different companies, are rising above the 81.4 acres to the east of the main campus. The projects include:

  • Tallahassee Community College’s Ghazvini Center for Health Education – 85,000 square feet
  • Red Hills Surgical Center – 17,000 square feet
  • Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center – 54,412 square feet

In all, 156,412 square feet of steel, concrete, drywall and paint are changing the face of our campus, increasing access to health care for our community, and employing hundreds of construction workers.

By the way, we also deliver our Fun Facts on Twitter at TMHforLife and on Facebook at Tallahassee Memorial.
