Traumatic Brain Injury occurs when a sudden trauma causes damage to the brain. Another term commonly used to classify brain injuries, is Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). By definition, ABI occurs when there is damage to the brain acquired after birth. It usually affects cognitive, physical, emotional, social or independent functioning.
