The last day at Montford Middle School looked a little different this year. Students let go of their no-more-pencils, no-more-books mindsets to participate in an interactive presentation about safe driving.
The message — don't drink and drive, don't text and drive, #justdrive — remained the same; however, the outreach program called Pathways to Prevention was new.
The initiative partnered medical professionals from Tallahassee Memorial Hospital's trauma center with law-enforcement officers and local educators. They led candid discussions about distracted driving as well as engaged students in hands-on activities that simulated what it was like to be under the influence of alcohol.
