Today, Mark O’Bryant, President & CEO of Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, announced Mickey S. Moore, current President/CEO of Southern Scholarship Foundation, will lead the hospital’s Foundation. Current TMH Foundation President, Paula Fortunas announced she will retire from her position in the near future.

“Tallahassee Memorial is fortunate to find a proven leader with impressive philanthropic experience and a track record of helping an organization fund programs through community financial support,” said O’Bryant. “TMH has partnered with our region for over 60 years to offer vital life saving and health enhancement services. The TMH Foundation plays an essential role in that community partnership.”

Most recently Moore led the Southern Scholarship Foundation (SSF) for six and a half years. Last year, the accomplishments of Moore and his team were recognized by the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce as the 2015 Non-Profit Business of the Year.

"All of us at the Southern Scholarship Foundation are very excited for Mickey and this new opportunity. Mickey is our first alum to hold the position of President and CEO, so his time in this role has been very special for our organization,” explained David Mica, Chair of SSF Board of Directors. “This next progression is a great opportunity for he and his family and we're so excited that they will be here in Tallahassee. SSF will continue to be a deep passion of his and we look forward to his continued involvement as a local alumnus."

Before his tenure at SSF, Moore’s fifteen year career in the financial industry centered on consulting, business development and financial operations with VP positions at MZ Bierly Consulting, Amsouth/Regions Bank and Sunshine State Credit Union.

"As an alum of SSF - someone that directly benefited from its Education for Life vision - I could not be more proud of the work we all did together to help so many young people attain a higher education and it was truly an honor for me to lead that organization,” said Mickey.  “Being Non-Profit of the Year is something SSF can cherish forever - the team, the directors, the students, the alumni and donors….everyone."

The TMH Foundation was established in 1976 as the philanthropic organization benefiting Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. It is charged with overseeing fundraising projects, managing the Foundation’s assets and distributing funds to TMH for services, research and programs. The Foundation is guided by a volunteer Board of Trustees comprised of 36 community leaders. Roger Champion is the current Chair of the Board of Trustees and a member of the selection committee. He said the focus of the selection committee was to find someone with an understanding of local philanthropic efforts and a proven leadership track record.

“The Board of Trustees is well aware that our region relies on the Foundation to garner community support for expensive clinical technologies and services,” said Champion. “We believe Mickey will immediately be able to engage donors in a way that satisfies their desire to bring the highest quality care to Tallahassee.”

"Joining the TMH team is thrilling for many reasons - it has such an impact locally and regionally on the health of our communities and I look forward to doing all I can to further TMH's mission and vision,” said Moore.  “Paula's passion and effort over the years is a hard act to follow, but I am honored to do so.”
