The bonds of Bryan and Bella go beyond therapy

August 15, 2017

Every superhero needs a sidekick. Like Robin to Batman, a sidekick gives support and backup when needed. They are devoted to their hero. With an incredible animal therapy team like Bryan Wimberly and Bella, it is hard to decipher who is the hero and who is the sidekick.

In 1988, Wimberly enlisted in the United States Navy. Being on the front lines for three separate tours of combat, Wimberly faced constant fear – especially during his two back to back tours in Iraq. In 2007, Wimberly returned home from his service with severe post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Experiencing confusion, memory loss and bouts of anger, his life took a swift downward spiral. Nearly 20 veterans commit suicide each day. Without help, Wimberly could have been a part of that statistic.
