Story of the Tuskegee Airmen provides timeless lesson for kids, Red Tail planes on display

“By Request” – two words printed on the side of the P-51C Mustang flown by the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II, say an incredible amount about the men who flew the fabled Red Tails.

The Tuskegee Airmen, a group of black fighter pilots within the Air Force, developed a reputation as the war progressed as being so elite in their execution of missions that they were requested by name.
