“When I realized that my mom couldn’t stay at home alone anymore I was hesitant about having her spend the day at an adult care facility. While she has lost her sight, my mom is still very independent and I knew it would take a special place to provide the experience we were looking for.
Tallahassee Memorial’s Adult Day Services has been the perfect fit for my mom and me. We found a warm, family-oriented atmosphere with loving staff. The first day I dropped her off, another client told me: 'Your mom is going to be fine, we’re all a family here!'"
My mom comes home each day talking about activities she’s involved in, like Bingo, singing, painting and crocheting, and I can’t tell you what a sense of security I have knowing she is in an environment that truly cares for her. Adult Day Services also provides Jeopardy-style games on current and historical events and my mom loves sharing the information with my 12 year-old son.
I’m so glad we found a place that provides such a stimulating place for my mom and reassurance for me each and every day.”
- Kimberly Moore
“No one ever plans or expects to be a caregiver for their parents. Due to unforeseen circumstances, anyone at anytime can find themselves in this position.
When I was faced with becoming a caregiver for my mother I did a lot of research, talking with facilities throughout the area. You don’t entrust your loved ones to just anyone willing to keep them during the day while you work or for a much needed break.
I had a lot of “must haves” on my list and Tallahassee Memorial’s Adult Day Services met all of them. Not only do they take care of each client with compassion, but they work with families as well, and they do it in a professional manner. They have always been very courteous and accommodating.
When I retired, it was my mother’s request to continue to attend Adult Day Services. She loves the people who attend, the school groups of all ages who come to sing, people from all over the world sharing their culture, volunteers that sing and play musical instruments, the arts and crafts, parties and games.
Tallahassee Memorial’s Adult Day Services has not been just a facility, but an extended and loving family member to my mom – and to me – for over three years.”
- Patricia L. Pendleton
“Over a year ago, I realized that my mom could no longer stay at home by herself while I went to work. She was not able to safely prepare lunch and take her medicines. When I learned about Tallahassee Memorial’s Adult Day Services, I called right away to see if there was space for my mom and she started going every day.
Each day we are greeted by the friendly staff and my mom has made new friends. Now, when I am home from work, my mom misses her friends and her routine. I’m relieved that I can go to work without any worries about my mom’s care. I know she is treated kindly, involved in art, music, and games – particularly Wii Bowling, her new favorite – and given healthy food. I am also informed of any problems or issues that arise during the day. I would not be able to go to work if it wasn’t for the loving care provided by Tallahassee Memorial’s Adult Day Services.”
