Our Valve Clinic is offered through the Structural Heart Program. This program provides a team of cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons that closely collaborate on care given to patients with complex heart valve disease. Our interventional cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons perform comprehensive patient evaluations to determine the very best treatment plan.
Collaborate, Efficient Care
One of the many benefits for patients at the Valve Clinic is streamlined care. We reduce the number of doctor’s visits necessary and accomplish more during each patient visit by coordinating care with diagnostic testing.
Depending on the severity of a patient’s condition and other risk factors, treatment options may include:
- Medical management
- Surgical valve repair or replacement
- TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
- Catheter-based mitral valve repair
Once a treatment plan is completed, each patient receives assistance from our cardiovascular nurse navigator. Nurse navigators assist patients in managing their disease progression and provide support during necessary procedures. They also provide patient education and guide the patient through the medical system, from admittance to discharge. Nurse navigators are also there after discharge to ensure physical therapy and follow-up appointments are completed.
Collaborative Treatment Plans
We provide the highest level of skill and service available. Our multidisciplinary team is all in one place so they can easily collaborate on the best plan of care. Treatment plans also include providing a smooth transition for patients returning to the care of their own physicians.
World Class Close to Home
We are passionate about continuing to expand the world-class, cardiovascular care to North Florida, South Georgia and Southeast Alabama residents while allowing them to be treated and recover closer to home – here at TMH.
