Joint Adventures

Joint Adventures is our free joint replacement education class open to any patient who is scheduled for or considering a total hip or knee replacement. Attendees receive information on what to do before surgery, what to expect during your hospital stay and caring for themselves afterwards.

Orthopedic surgery can be a stressful experience if you are not fully prepared. Attending Joint Adventures will give you the opportunity to:

  • Meet some of the nurses, hospital staff and therapists that will be caring for you.
  • Become familiar with all of the equipment.
  • Receive an overview of the pre-admission, surgery, recuperation and rehabilitation processes.
  • Practice the basic exercises that all patients can do before and after surgery.
  • Get prepared for rehab at home or in a skilled nursing facility.

We encourage attendees can bring their spouse, caregiver or friend with them to class.

How to Register

Joint Adventures is held twice a month throughout the year to provide patients with information about their procedure. Research tells us that those who are educated about their surgery and recovery do better during and after their hospital stay.

To register, call 850-431-1691.

We encourage attendees can bring their spouse, caregiver or friend with them to class.

"This class should be required for anyone having a knee or hip replacement."
— Marsha Player

"The joint replacement class reduces the fear that one might have regarding the surgical procedure. The people presenting the class are professionals who provide information that is easily understood and will make your hospital stay easier."
— Jim Etheridge

"You need to be fully prepared for joint replacement surgery. Doing your homework is an absolute necessity and should include participating in the joint replacement class. The more knowledge you have prior to the surgery will enable you to deal both mentally and physically with the operation and recovery process."
— Jerry Mullane
