Margaret Canter CNMMargaret Canter, CNM

Margaret is fluent in Spanish and has a large Hispanic clientele. She attended nursing school at St. Petersburg Community College and moved to Tallahassee to work at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital as an RN in labor & delivery while earning her bachelor's degree in nursing from Florida State University. Margaret then moved to Kentucky for midwifery education at Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.

When she returned to Tallahassee with her certification in 1990, Margaret worked as a midwife in private practice for 13 years. She then followed Dr. A.D. Brickler when he joined TMH Family Medicine Residency Program, gaining the opportunity to help with clinical training of family medicine residents.

When not at work, Margaret enjoys racquetball, running, swimming, yoga and gardening, and is a skilled and dedicated potter. She is happily married to Mark Canter, novelist and college professor.

Kay Dorian CARNPKay Dorian, C-ARNP

Kay is an experienced provider of women’s health care. She completed her nurse practitioner training in 1996 at Emory University Regional Training Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She is certified in Women’s Health by the National Certification Corporation and has previous experience as an RN in labor and delivery at Tallahassee Memorial, Gadsden Memorial and Shand’s of Jacksonville. She has been employed at Gynecology and Obstetrics since 1996, and after taking three years off for self-employment, has learned integrative care and happily returned to Gynecology & Obstetrics Associates.

Kay lives in the country with her spouse of many years. She has three children, all grown, and five grandchildren. She enjoys gardening, swimming, kayaking and white water rafting.

Miriam Gurniak CNMMiriam Gurniak, CNM

Anderson-Brickler Midwifery Obstetrical Services

Miriam Gurniak, CNM, joined Anderson-Brickler Midwifery and the TMH Family Medicine Residency Program in 2007. She has spent her entire midwifery career in North Florida, arriving in 1996 straight from the midwifery program at Yale University in order to fulfill a commitment to the National Health Service Corps.

While she loves public health work and regularly staffs obstetrical clinics in the Madison and Jefferson County Health Departments, she also owns a pair of purple "hippie midwife" Birkenstocks and has twice attended conferences at Ina May Gaskin's "Farm" in Tennessee. She is the mom of two nearly-grown men who both have excellent skills in the kitchen. She spends time off at a cabin in North Carolina where the boys shoot potatoes into the woods via their homemade PVC-pipe potato cannon.

Kathy Hartley CNM ARNPKathy Hartley, CNM, ARNP

After graduating from Florida State University as a registered nurse, Kathy, a native of the Florida panhandle, began her career as a Tallahassee Memorial labor and delivery nurse. During this time, she earned certification in childbirth education, served as a preceptor to new RNs and worked in the in-vitro program. Along the way she and her husband of more than nine years had their son, Jesse.

Becoming a mother inspired Kathy to further her education and become a Certified Nurse-Midwife. After being accepted to the midwifery program at the University of Florida, Kathy commuted to Gainesville until she reached her goal of becoming a CNM and completing her master’s degree in December of 1996.

As a CNM, Kathy worked in private practice for more than ten years and then spent three years teaching undergraduate RNs at FAMU and the Taylor County Health Department before returning to TMH in 2009. When away from work, Kathy enjoys hiking, boating, snorkeling, gardening, working with stained glass and traveling.

Kathleen "KK" McKeon, CNM

Anderson-Brickler Midwifery Obstetrical Services

KK joined Anderson-Brickler Midwifery Center in 2005. A Connecticut yankee, she became a Certified Nurse-Midwife while serving in the U.S. Navy in 1992. She received her master’s degree in nursing in the Nurse Midwifery program at Medical University of South Carolina. She was active duty military for 14 years, retiring in 2010.

KK enjoys working alongside the faculty in providing the family medicine residents a strong foundation in the care of women throughout the lifespan. She also enjoys providing support and encouragement to families seeking midwifery care during their pregnancy and childbirth.

KK has lived in Tallahassee since 2003. She is married to Fred Beckham and they have two children, John Ross and Madeline. KK and her family are active in their church, scouting, baseball, volleyball and the children’s orchestra activities. In her spare time, KK enjoys cooking and quilting.

Carol McNutt CNMCarol McNutt, CNM

Carol worked in the rural counties of North Florida prior to joining the team at Gynecology and Obstetrics Associates in 2005. Her kindness is seen not only by her patients but also through services she does throughout the community.

Originally a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she has called Tallahassee home since 1979 where she lives with her husband and 3 children. In her free time she enjoys the beach, photography and music with her family and friends.

Jane has been delivering babies for Gynecology and Obstetrics Associates office since she joined the team in 2000. Her bedside manner and excellent patient care have prompted many of her patients to seek her for care after their delivery for their routine gynecological needs.

After her schooling, Anne-Marie returned to her native Tallahassee to work as an RN at TMH before joining the team at Gynecology and Obstetrics Associates, where she works as a CNM and ARNP. After the birth of her second child, Ann-Marie changed her focus entirely on GYN, and is enjoying playing mom. She is also an active member of the American College of Nurse Midwives (A.C.N.M.) where she continues to make a difference.

Deborah K White CNM ARNP MSDeborah K. White, CNM, ARNP, MS

Azalea Women’s Healthcare

Deborah K. White, MS, ARNP, CNM is a board certified nurse midwife. She graduated from the Midwifery Institute of Philadelphia University. She comes to Azalea from South Africa where she was a midwife RN for 18 years.

Her passion for midwifery sent her back to obtain her master’s degree. She is a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives. She enjoys spending time with her daughter, Kelly, being with friends, cooking and music.
