The Flamingo Challenge

Thank you for your interest in this year’s Flamingo Challenge! To ensure you have fun and a successful fundraising event, here are some tips — as well as pointers on how to share your success!

Tips to Fundraise and Promote

  1. Decide if you’d like to organize a team or raise funds on your own to help local cancer patients.
  2. Register your flock online
  3. Register your flock online and make your pledge. 100% of your tax-deductible gift will support patients fighting cancer.
  4. Display your flock in your yard.
  5. Keep it moving! Decide who you will challenge. Reach out to them to describe the campaign and ensure they are willing to participate. To maximize the fun and impact, the goal is for each flock to move within 24 hours. Challenge your friends to join in the fun and share these tips with them.
  6. Issue the Challenge: Once someone has agreed to accept the challenge, share these guidelines so they can be thinking about how they would like to participate. Then, tape the guidelines to the back of the yard sign and deliver along with the flock to a visible location at the business, organization, school or home. Announce your challenge on social media by taking a photo of the flamingos in their new habitat, tagging @FirstCommerceCU and @TMHFoundation and using #PinkPower #FlamingoChallenge #FindTheFlock #BreastCancerAwareness.
  7. Make Your Donation: Continue your awareness and fundraising to meet — or beat — your goal. To be entered into the drawing for two tickets to next year’s TMH Golden Gala featuring Keith Urban, your donation must be received by 11:30 pm Nov. 10. You can make your gift in the following ways: 1) online at TMH.ORG/Donate and choose “Cancer Center – Flamingo Challenge” from the dropdown menu; 2) bring your check to the TMH Foundation, 1331 E. Sixth Ave., Tallahassee, Fla., Monday through Friday, 9 am-4 pm., with checks made payable to the TMH Foundation and Flamingo Challenge noted in the memo section; or bring your check to the Flamingos Fly Home Party, 5 – 7 pm, at the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center, 1775 One Healing Place, Tallahassee, FL. Donation questions? Call (850) 431-5389.

This Challenge Will Run Through October 31, 2022!

Fundraising Ideas

Here are a few ideas to help you get started:

  • Pledge a portion of the proceeds from a product, service, item, dish or event, or collect change/offer to round up purchases to the next dollar. We'll help spread the word. Tag us and use the hashtags!
  • Host an auction or raffle with items such as an extra paid day off, a pass from a chore, a coveted parking spot, popular work-from-home items such as AirPods/Bluetooth earbuds, an extra monitor, etc.
  • Encourage your team to donate for benefits such as a dress down or Zoom/video or chore-free day.
  • Host a contest (mask decorating, Zoom background, recipe, fitness, etc.) with donations for votes.
  • Issue a challenge to do something crazy/silly/adventurous if a fundraising goal is met by a certain date — or for the one who doesn’t raise as much to have to wear a pink bra or boa, funny costume, etc.
  • Donate in honor of someone who has battled cancer or start a Facebook fundraiser.
