Opportunities in Allied Health at TMH

There are many ways to help patients outside of nursing. Allied health professionals are highly skilled healthcare workers who support doctors, providers and nurses by using technical expertise to deliver patient care. The most common allied health roles at TMH are technologists and therapists. These careers are in high demand, and they offer a rewarding career path that allows you to contribute to providing comprehensive patient care.

Technologists

TMH healthcare technologists are a group of skilled professionals that operate and maintain top-of-the-line medical equipment, interpret test results and assist in developing patient treatment plans.

There are a wide range of technologist opportunities at TMH:

1. Surgical technologist

A surgical technologists’ key role is assisting with surgical operations. Preparing the operating room is one of the essential tasks of this career, which includes accounting for each piece of equipment, sterilizing the tools and maintaining the cleanliness of the room. Surgical technologists are best known for assisting physicians during surgery by passing them instruments. During their training, they learn the ins and outs of surgery in order to anticipate the surgeon’s next move

These technologists also interact directly with the patients by making sure that they are ready for surgery, such as disinfecting incision sites and transporting them to the operating room. Surgical techs play a vital role in ensuring every surgical procedure at TMH is sterile, efficient and successful.

Here at TMH, we offer the Surgical Technology Apprenticeship Program, a paid, year-long opportunity that combines hands-on training with classroom learning. This full-time program prepares you to step confidently into a Surgical Technician role, earn your national certification, and join the TMH team as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
