Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic (TOC) will serve as the orthopedic provider at the planned Panama City Beach healthcare campus announced in April of 2021 by Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Inc. (TMH), the Florida State University College of Medicine (FSU) and The St. Joe Company (St. Joe).
An official date to begin offering orthopedic services at the campus has not been set, but TOC’s team of orthopedic specialists, surgeons and physical therapists are looking forward to providing the Panama City community the same dedicated, innovative and individualized care patients have come to expect from any TOC location.
“TOC is excited to invest and expand the range of orthopedic surgical services in Panama City,” said D. Jason Oberste, MD, TOC Managing Physician Partner. “We have seen an increase of complex orthopedic care needs from the region and are eager to begin providing services at the new healthcare campus in Panama City.”
“From pre-operative testing and surgery to post-operative care and recovery, TMH and TOC has had a longstanding partnership to provide patients in the Big Bend region with the most comprehensive and innovative orthopedic care,” said Judy Greenwald, Orthopedics Administrator at TMH. “We are now looking forward to expanding and providing that same level of high-quality care to residents of the Panama City community.”
TOC currently serves patients from Panama City and the vicinity through a satellite clinic located in Marianna, Florida. By expanding its geographic footprint to provide comprehensive orthopedic services in Bay County, TOC and TMH will improve the quality and accessibility of orthopedic care for the entire region.
The first phase of the planned healthcare campus is slated to include an ambulatory and urgent care center, while future development plans include the construction of an Emergency Center and a 100-bed inpatient facility offering a multitude of medical services.
The campus is planned to be located on an 87-acre parcel near the intersection of State Highway 79 and Phillip Griffitts Sr. Parkway, just minutes from the Latitude Margaritaville Watersound community, the proposed 55-and-better community which is planned for 3,500 homes.
TMH, FSU and St. Joe intend to break ground on the campus as early as 2022.
