TMH, Radiology Associates of Tallahassee Combine Outpatient Services Under New Partnership

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., April 11, 2022 – Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) and Radiology Associates of Tallahassee are working together in a more formal way to meet the imaging services needs of patients from Leon and the surrounding counties.
TMH and Radiology Associates have formed Southeast Radiology Partners, a member managed limited liability company, that will allow both entities to combine outpatient diagnostic imaging assets and resources to provide care. Southeast Radiology Partners will continue to operate under the names of Radiology Associates of Tallahassee and Women’s Imaging Center but going forward will be managed by a board with equal representation from TMH and Radiology Associates. Radiology Associates will manage the day-to-day operations of the company.
The collaboration expands on an existing relationship between TMH and Radiology Associates through Tallahassee Diagnostic Imaging (TDI), which goes back to 1985. In an ever-changing healthcare landscape, collaborations are becoming more common as healthcare organizations seek efficiency of resources and excellent patient outcomes.
“As the region’s largest healthcare system and nonprofit healthcare provider, TMH is dedicated to pursuing partnerships that help us serve our patients,” said Tallahassee Memorial President and CEO G. Mark O’Bryant. “One of the ways we continue to provide excellent care is by working with organizations that share our values and longstanding commitment to the community. TMH has been in Tallahassee since 1948, and Radiology Associates was founded not long after in 1961. It made sense for us to work together as we continue to develop a healthcare system that will meet our region’s needs well into the future.”
“Healthcare is rapidly evolving, and the technological advances in radiology over the last decade have been dramatic,” John R. Detelich, CEO of Radiology Associates, said. “We have made a strong commitment to invest in those technologies and in innovative solutions to bring the best possible care to our community. We are happy to work with TMH and know that this partnership will support both entities in providing timely, excellent care to all patients.”
One of the changes patients will notice because of the new partnership is that TMH discontinued providing many outpatient radiology services at the hospital as of Friday, April 1. Although TMH will have a focus on radiology services to inpatients, the following imaging services will still be performed at TMH.
- Screening and diagnostic mammograms
- Breast interventional services performed by a surgeon
- Pre- and post-operative imaging services
- Pediatric fluoroscopy (16 years and under)
- Imaging services that are incidental to a hospital visit
- Imaging where the patient requires anesthesia
- Any patient where safety concerns are indicated
By forming Southeast Radiology Partners, TMH and Radiology Associates can focus energy and resources on their areas of strengths while best serving patients.
“These changes will allow TMH to better serve inpatients and emergency patients, which are time-sensitive and often unpredictable day to day,” Detelich said. “Eliminating much of the outpatient radiology schedule at TMH will improve timeliness of care when it is most important.”
Although patients and physician referrers are free to choose any imaging provider for their imaging service needs, Radiology Associates and TMH will work closely to ensure that imaging is provided in the most appropriate setting.
Physicians or medical office professionals who have questions about services provided by TMH and/or Radiology Associates can contact TMH at 850-431-5265 or Radiology Associates at 850-216-5555.
