TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023) — Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) has begun transitioning from its current Cerner and Allscripts electronic health records (EHR) solutions to a single EHR with Epic.

This change is a strategic, long-term investment to provide the best quality of care throughout the organization and across all TMH locations. Epic will help TMH improve the patient experience through simpler coordination of treatment, easily accessible medical records and a streamlined patient billing process.

With a 772-bed acute care hospital, multiple specialty care centers and over 35 physician practices, TMH is a growing regional healthcare system in North Florida and the region’s largest private employer with nearly 6,000 colleagues.

“Cerner and Allscripts have been great partners over the past 26 and 13 years respectively,” said Don Lindsey, Vice President & Chief Information Officer. “As TMH continues to grow both as a regional healthcare system and an academic health center, we need an integrated solution to help us achieve our short- and long-term goals. We believe Epic can help us continue our EHR journey to meet those goals, while improving the quality of care and collaboration our community deserves.”

Epic will provide easy access to a patient’s complete health history and real-time information to help TMH providers make the most informed decisions possible with care tailored to each patient’s needs. More than 305 million patients have a current electronic record in Epic.

Patients will also be empowered to take an active role in their own care through the Epic app, which will allow easy access to important health information and resources.

TMH has begun work to transition to Epic throughout its entire health system. This project is expected to be complete in spring 2025.
