TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Tuesday, May 20, 2025) – Hundreds of Tallahassee area residents, businesses and organizations will rally in support of local nonprofit healthcare as TMH Day returns on Thursday, June 12.
The second annual day of giving, hosted by the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) Foundation, celebrates the region’s only nonprofit, community-based healthcare system and seeks to raise $100,000 to support patients, critical services and programs. Although TMH Day is on June 12, the campaign is under way now.
As a nonprofit healthcare organization, TMH treats everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, and offers cost-prohibitive yet critical services other healthcare organizations may not provide.
“Donors to the TMH Foundation don’t simply give money,” President and Chief Advancement Officer Nigel Allen said. “They partner with us to solve complex, life-threatening problems. TMH Day reaffirms that TMH belongs to the community and that donors play a critical role in supporting local healthcare.”
Serving 21 counties in North Florida and South Georgia, TMH is Tallahassee’s largest private employer with approximately 6,000 colleagues who deliver the region’s highest level of healthcare.
Each year, TMH sees more than 30,000 admissions and approximately 130,000 emergency and urgent care center visits. From giving babies born prematurely a fighting chance to providing scholarships for nurses, the TMH Foundation exists to elevate the level of care for everyone.
Building on the success of 2024, funds raised this year will benefit five key areas of care:
- Emergency & Trauma
- The Tallahassee Memorial Rehabilitation Center
- Scholarships for Clinical Colleagues
- Women’s & Children’s Services
- The Heart & Vascular Center
TMH Foundation also welcomes support for any area of the hospital or a general contribution at TMHDAY.ORG. All donations are tax deductible and go directly to improving patient outcomes and supporting frontline healthcare teams.
The impact of TMH Day 2024 was felt across service lines. In the NICU, donations provided 24 frog positioning aids for healing and development, 10 rechargeable pulse oximeters for at-home monitoring and specialty car seats and beds for medically fragile newborns.
As the only Level III NICU in the region, TMH provides specialized care that many families would otherwise have to travel hours to receive.
Baby Jack Homola’s story is a testament to the lifesaving care available at TMH. Born at just 24 weeks, Jack faced tremendous challenges. He weighed just 1 pound, 7 ounces. With expert care from the NICU, Jack fought through each hurdle with resilience.
“I didn’t know TMH had a Level III NICU until we were preparing to have Jack early, and it is outstanding,” said Christie Homola, Jack’s mother. “The acute medicine continuously blew me away; it’s the best in North Florida. Our community should be proud to have this level of care.”
TMH Day is one way the community can ensure families like Jack’s have access to world-class care without the burden of long-distance travel.
“Our goal for TMH Day is to unite the community and make a real impact on the healthcare services that are so vital to our region,” Allen said. “By supporting TMH Day, you’re helping ensure that quality care is accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.”
TMH Day will feature two special events. The community is invited to a kick-off celebration from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, June 5, at Hearth & Soul, 1410 Market St. Attendees will enjoy small bites and drinks, while learning about how they can get involved in TMH Day. Hearth & Soul is also generously donating net proceeds from the sales of its June featured candle to the TMH Foundation.
TMH Day will culminate on Thursday, June 12, with a celebration from 5 to 8 pm at The Hub at Feather Oaks, 6500 Miccosukee Road. The event will include live music, food trucks and the opportunity to donate at the register to benefit TMH Day.
