About Me

Dr. Daniel Matta was born in Cali, Colombia and moved to Tampa, Florida in November of 1999 with his parents and brothers. He completed undergraduate and medical school at the University of South Florida, graduating from medical school in 2013. He then went on to complete a family medicine residency at Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2016. While in residency Dr. Matta was blessed to meet his wife, Noemi, and they married in April 2016. After residency, he completed a one-year hospitalist fellowship at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine. Dr. Matta stayed in Maine until Dec. 2018 where he worked as a full-time hospitalist while staying involved with medical students and family medicine resident education. He acted as Assistant Fellowship Director for the hospitalist fellowship for the last year he was there.

In December 2018, Dr. Matta and Noemi moved to Tallahassee, where his wife is from, and worked for a little over a year at Archbold Memorial Hospital as a hospitalist, while continuing to be involved in resident education as a community preceptor here at TMH. Dr. Matta finally became an official faculty of TMH’s Family Medicine Residency Program in March 2020. His areas of interest are sports medicine, international medicine, health disparities and hospital medicine.

Outside of work Dr. Matta and his wife were blessed with their first baby girl in February 2021. He enjoys working out; getting beat up at Brazilian jiu-jitsu; watching mixed martial arts and boxing; working as a ringside physician; hiking with his wife, daughter and dogs; reading; watching movies; spending time with family and friends and eating. Dr. Matta loves eating!
