Dr. Umaña attended Medical School at Francisco Marroquin University in Guatemala City, Guatemala. He completed his Internship, Residency in Internal Medicine (Chief Medical Resident), as well as his Cardiology Fellowship at the University of South Alabama Hospitals and Clinics in Mobile, Alabama.

His certifications include the American Board of Internal Medicine in Cardiovascular Disease and Internal Medicine. He is also board certified in Adult Echocardiography, Cardiovascular Computed Tomography and Nuclear Cardiology.

He currently practices at Southern Medical Group, P.A., and holds privileges at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.

They explained what my illness is and how they were going to treat me in a way that I could understand and gave me instructions that's easy to follow the Dr. Showed concern and care and I appreciate that.

Dr. Umana is obviously a very very good doctor. However, (1) he indicated a "concern " he had but, to my way of thinking could have provided a little more information--in layman's terms. I cannot really recall "inclusion," (2) I am severely hearing impaired. Dr. Umana speaks very quickly, even after having been advised. (3) Dr. Umana ordered a pacemaker follow-up, which was very important. (4) Dr. Umana ordered an MRI rather "matter-of-factly" for my taste because I am terrifiied of them, so It would have been good to get just a little more "hand-holding" on that account. Perhaps this was also my fault.
