Behavioral Health Outpatient Services
It can be hard to ask for help with mental health challenges or emotional trauma. Our dedicated outpatient mental health team is ready to listen and help you manage your mental condition, whether you’re just beginning treatment or transitioning to a different level of care.
Our Services
We offer specialized programs for adults (age 18 and older) and children and adolescents of all ages, managing acute mental health disorders or co-occurring mental health disorders with substance use. Services help participants reduce problematic symptoms and improve quality of life.
Outpatient treatment is customized to fit the needs and goals of individuals seeking to address mental health concerns. The length of services and frequency of appointments are determined by the level of support needed. We offer a range of treatment programs, from traditional to more intensive, based on the level of need.
We provide therapy for adults, children and adolescents of all ages experiencing:
- Mental Health Disorders
- Acute and Chronic Substance Use Disorders
- Trauma/Stress
- Self-Injurious Behaviors
Traditional Outpatient Treatment
Our traditional treatment program incorporates the services of psychiatrists, a psychiatric nurse practitioner and licensed clinicians who provide evaluation, psychoeducation and therapy. It is designed to monitor and adjust medications for psychiatric illnesses while improving the patient's symptoms and quality of life.
Program components include:
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Consultation
- Medication management
- Individual and family therapy, including but not limited to:
o Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
o Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
o Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Intensive Services
Partial Hospital Program (PHP)
The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is a concentrated level of mental health services for adults. This is a short-term, intensive program designed for individuals with a variety of psychiatric symptoms.
As a step down or an alternative to inpatient hospitalization, the program provides comprehensive evaluation, treatment and aftercare planning. Treatment is group-based. Treatment is provided and occurs five days a week for five hours a day.
Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is ideal for participants ready to step down from the Partial Hospital Program or for those who need to step up from traditional outpatient services. Program services are similar to the Partial Hospital Program but are designed for individuals with more moderate psychiatric symptoms. Treatment is provided at Live Oak Behavioral Health Center and occurs three days a week for three hours a day.
Program Services
Services provided through the Partial Hospital Program and Intensive Outpatient Program include:
- Confidential and comprehensive mental health evaluations and assessments
- Individual, family and group therapy, including but not limited to:
o Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
o Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
o Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
o Mindfulness - Medication management
- Post treatment planning and care coordination
Our Facility
Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare has partnered with Apalachee Center. to operate a multidisciplinary facility called Live Oak Behavioral Health Center. Located at 2600 Centennial Place, Tallahassee, Florida, Live Oak Behavioral Health Center brings together from both organizations psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists and licensed mental health professionals under one roof to give our patients the best outcomes possible.
Live Oak Behavioral Health Center is also the proud home of the Florida State University College of Medicine’s Psychiatry Residency Program. This program, which began in 2024, provides four years of training in psychiatry for medical school graduates, addressing a critical need for the training of mental health care providers for the region and the state.
