Accreditation places Tallahassee Memorial Sleep Center among the leading facilities for sleep medicine in the U.S.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025) – The Tallahassee Memorial Sleep Center has maintained American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) accreditation for 15 consecutive years, demonstrating its commitment to providing high-quality care for sleep-wake disorders.
AASM-accredited sleep centers provide diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with sleep-wake disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, chronic insomnia, restless legs syndrome and narcolepsy.
To receive and maintain accreditation for a five-year period, a sleep center must meet or exceed all standards as designated by the AASM, including personnel, facility, equipment, policies, data acquisition, patient care and quality assurance. The sleep center’s goals must also focus on advancing local medical care quality.
Norman Pasley, Administrator of Rehabilitation, Home Health Care and Sleep at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH), says the milestone reflects the hard work that providers and colleagues have put into providing quality care for over a decade.
“Our pulmonologists and sleep center team have put in countless hours to reach this milestone and maintain AASM accreditation,” Pasley said. “This 15-year milestone not only honors their dedication but also gives our patients confidence that the care they receive is recognized nationally for quality, safety and excellence.”
With an estimated one in three adults experiencing a sleep-wake disorder, access to an accredited sleep center is vital for nearly any community across the country. AASM accreditation ensures patients in our community and surrounding rural areas receive high-quality, evidence-based care that can significantly improve overall health and quality of life.
Ruby Williams, MD, Pulmonologist with TMH Physician Partners – Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep and Medical Director of the Tallahassee Memorial Sleep Center, says AASM accreditation positions the Sleep Center among other industry-leading facilities in sleep medicine found across the U.S.
“Sleep disorders affect millions of Americans and the impact on overall health is profound,” Dr. Williams said. “Our community deserves access to world-class sleep care, and AASM accreditation guarantees that standard. For patients and families in and around Tallahassee, it means peace of mind and knowing their sleep health is being managed with the same rigor and excellence found at leading centers across the country.”
The AASM is a medical society for physicians, researchers and other health care professionals in the field of sleep medicine. As the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers, the AASM advances sleep care and enhances sleep health to improve lives.
The AASM accredited a sleep disorders center for the first time in 1977. Today, there are more than 2,300 AASM-accredited sleep centers across the country.
