Become an Animal Therapy Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in making a "pawsitive" impact in our community and becoming a trained animal therapy volunteer! It is a rewarding experience that can bring great joy to the recipients of our services, the therapy animals and their caregivers.
To become an animal therapy team member, you and your pet must pass a nationally recognized basic skills and therapy skills evaluation. To prepare them for training and evaluation, we recommend you expose your pet to different environments and people of all ages and ethnicities—and do it often! A therapy pet should love interacting with all sorts of people and be comfortable in many types of settings. You may also want to take an additional obedience class if it has been a while since your last one—you can never be too prepared!
We offer two distinct volunteer pathways to fit your lifestyle:
Animal Therapy Team
Visit clinical, educational, and senior facilities directly with your trained pet.
Volunteer Visit Facilitator
Support our mission without a pet by assisting handlers during site visits, managing logistics, and representing our program at public events.
