Valve Clinic
Our Valve Clinic is where we plan and streamline care for patients in our Structural Heart Program. Here, our leading team of interventional cardiologists and heart surgeons work together collaborate to determine the best care plan for your unique needs.
Collaborative, Efficient Care
One of the many benefits you’ll experience at the Valve Clinic is streamlined care. We reduce the number of doctor’s visits necessary and accomplish more during each visit by coordinating care with diagnostic testing.
Depending on the severity of your condition and other risk factors, treatment options may include:
- Medical management
- Surgical valve repair or replacement
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Catheter-based mitral valve repair (MitraClip)
What to Expect in Our Valve Clinic
Once your primary care provider or cardiologist has referred you to our Valve Clinic, here’s what you can expect.
- First, you’ll meet with our Structural Heart Nurse Practitioner, who will complete your initial assessment, discuss your unique needs and decide what testing you may need to determine the severity of your condition.
- Then, you’ll complete any necessary testing and advanced cardiac imaging.
- Our Structural Heart Team, including interventional cardiologists and heart surgeons, will then come together to review your case, tests and images to determine the best plan of care: medical management, surgery or a minimally invasive intervention, including TAVR or MitraClip.
- Then you’ll meet with our Structural Heart Doctors. They will discuss their recommended care plan with you and address any questions you may have.
- Our Valve Clinic Coordinator will then work with you to schedule any necessary procedures.
Your Patient Navigator
Throughout your journey in our Valve Clinic and Structural Heart Program, you'll work with our Valve Clinic Coordinator and Structural Heart Patient Navigator, who will assist you in managing your disease progression and provide support during and after any procedures you may need. They will also provide patient education and guide you through the medical system, from admittance and discharge, to physical therapy and follow-ups.
