PGY1/PGY2 HSPAL Program
PGY-1/PGY-2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Program
Build a foundation in clinical pharmacy practice while preparing to lead pharmacy services. The combined postgraduate years 1 and 2 (PGY-1/PGY-2) Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) residency at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) in Tallahassee, Florida, offers two years of clinical and leadership training.
During your first year, you’ll follow a curriculum closely aligned with our PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency, developing your patient care skills and clinical judgment. Your second year focuses on pharmacy administration and leadership. Working closely with the director of pharmacy, assistant directors and executives, you’ll gain experience in the operational, financial and clinical responsibilities of managing pharmacy services.

Program at a Glance
- Residency positions: One
- Annual stipend: $44,000 during PGY-1; $51,975 during PGY-2
- Benefits: Health insurance, sick leave, paid vacation and professional travel reimbursement
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from a college or school of pharmacy accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE).
- Be licensed as a pharmacist in Florida by July 1.

- Operational service requirement
- Staffing in the main pharmacy as the Pharmacist-in-Charge every fourth weekend
- Research project
- Resident-led quality improvement project resulting in a prepared presentation at the Florida Residency Conference
- Patient safety
- Anticoagulation, medication safety, and antimicrobial stewardship subcommittees
- Formulary management
- Leading formulary reviews and medication use evaluations
- Preparing and leading the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee meetings
- Professional development
- ASHP Leaders Conference
- ASHP Midyear Conference
- Vizient Clinical Conference
