Total knee replacement surgery — also known as total knee arthroplasty — is a procedure to remove severely damaged or diseased parts of your knee joint and replace it with artificial parts to restore function and reduce joint pain.
How do I know if I need Total Knee Replacement Surgery?
Whether or not you need total knee replacement surgery will ultimately be determined through appointments and consultations with your primary care physician and your orthopedic surgeon. But, you may be a candidate for total knee replacement surgery if you experience:
- Chronic severe knee pain that limits routine use of your knee such as walking, climbing stairs, sitting down and standing up.
- Persistent knee pain and inflammation, even while your knee is at rest.
